Simply in Season Children's Cookbook will help children make the connection between what they eat, where it comes from, and when it is in season. This colorful and chock-full-of-photos cookbook makes it easy and fun for children to think and cook in season and to center food around the table and give thanks for it.

"An imaginative, active way to invite kids of all ages, but especially 6-to-12-year-olds, to get in touch with real food, to see where it comes from, to take responsibility for preparing it, and to have fun in the process. Simply in Season Children's Cookbook promotes whole foods in a whole life experience - from growing foods to growing kids!" - Mary Beth Lind, co-author of Simply in Season

Commissioned by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), the service and relief organization of the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches of Canada and the United States.

Five ways to have fun simply in season

Get your hands dirty - Start a small garden in your backyard, on a windowsill, or even on a rooftop terrace. Try a tomato plant or two, or maybe some herbs.

Eat right more often - Have a bowl of fresh apples or other fruit on the kitchen counter for quick, portable snacking. Keep snack-size slices of veggies in the fridge.

Shop for flavor - Visit your local farmers' market for fruits and veggies picked at the peak of freshness. That means tastier bites for you.

Experiment in the kitchen - Follow the seasonal recipes in this book or try making new variations. Better yet, invent some original recipes of your own.

Have a meal together - Sit down around the table to enjoy the food and the people you share it with. Give thanks to God who created all things.
