"There are moments in history when the whole world stops and turns a corner, in political, moral, and spiritual terms. The Russian Revolution was one such moment. This unique story of endurance and courage sheds light on the plight of Russian Mennonites at that time. Fortified by sterling research, this is a great story of restoration above all else, but also a historical record. A sweeping tale of love and loss, Calm Before the Storm carries the reader to other times and places, international intrigue at its best." —Anne de Graaf, winner of the Christy Award 2000 for International Historical Fiction

South Russia, 1914. The world is at war, and revolution threatens. Against this backdrop of fear and danger, three young people search for hope and love.
