A true story woven by strands of faith, family, and community. Emma: A Widow Among the Amish, tells the story of a woman who rears six children in the aftermath of her entrepreneurial husband's tragic death following significant business failures. Ervin R. Stutzman, author of the highly commended Tobias of the Amish, now turns to his mother and rediscovers the strength of a woman whose early married life was defined by stress and tragedy.
"Ervin R. Stutzman's Emma invites us into the life of an Amish Mennonite community. Through Emma - I understand what Gelassenheit, the ultimate yielding to the will of the Lord, means for the Amish." - Karen M. Johnson-Weiner, The State University of New York Potsdam
"Ervin Stutman, Emma's youngest son, sensitively traces his mother's efforts to find her way alone through issue after issue to ever increasing independence." - Katie Funk Wiebe, Author of Alone: A Widow's Search for Joy
