When we think of food with adjectives like good, bad, fast, and affordable, we lose sight of the fact that food is first of all sacred -- a precious gift of the earth to be enjoyed with others and shared by all. Extending the Table takes us to the tables of people for whom food is the staff of life. This collection of recipes and stories invites us to sit with people we have never met, taste the flavors of their food, feel the warmth of their friendship, and learn from experience.
