"A timely word for an urgent need. With sound scholarship and well-paced readability, Michael Henderson reconstructs the sound and proven educational system that John Wesley employed in the class meeting for making disciples and growing leaders. Every reader will learn from the historical insights and find something to apply in the contemporary setting." - David L. McKenna, President Emeritus, Asbury Theological Seminary
The evangelical revival that swept England in the mid-1700s rode on the tidal wave of small-group discipleship. John Wesley and his Methodist preachers expected their parishioners to attend weekly meetings, where their spiritual growth could be monitored and encouraged. Dr. Henderson describes the genius of Wesley's class meetings and shows how similar groups would strengthen Christian ministry today.
"Michael Henderson skillfully chronicles early Methodism's most effective method of disciplemaking. Carefully researched and astutely interpreted, the book brings a profoundly relevant message for the church today." - Robert E. Coleman, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
