The Pax StoryService in the Name of Christ, 1951-1976 by Calvin W. Redekop |

For 25 years, starting in 1951, a group of "Pax-ers" showed by their example that there are still people motivated by good will and desire to serve in a world that seems to include more than enough selfishness. This was one of the first—if not the first—of the overseas alternative service programs. It was enthusiastically approved by Selective Service Director Lewis B. Heshey. As Calvin W. Redekop explored the Pax experience (and remembered his own Pax years), he became convinced that here was an inspiring story demanding to be told.
The Pax Story includes careful yet accessible analysis and reflection, extended personal accounts of what the Pax experience meant for those who served, photos, extensive notes, and an index.
