"The stories my family told about the old days were so interesting that I always wished I had been there too. That’s why in later years I began to write about my own childhood near a little village in southern Virginia.

"Pleasant memories are easy to recall. My ‘kindergarten’ was meadows, streams, birds, and flowers. My brothers and sisters were my teachers. Papa and Mama enjoyed watching our games and activities, only imposing restraints when we went beyond accepted rules. These youthful ways changed when we moved from that quiet southern community to busy Lancaster County, Pennsylvania."

--Levi B. Weber in the Preface

In this first book in the Possum Hollow series, Levi B. Weber begins the story of his childhood and youth in Virginia and Pennsylvania in the early 1900s. Levi was born in 1911 in Virginia. When he is six, Levi and his family move to Lancaster County where they rent a farm.

Possum Hollow shows what it was like to be a child in the eastern states back then. Levi’s family enjoys being together even as they struggle to make a living. The children have their chores and games. Church, school, and neighbors fill out the local community.

As a child, Levi deals with experiences, dreams, and fears. He wonders about the meaning of life and faith. Through stories and dialogue, Levi dramatically draws readers into his early 20th-century world. Hop on this time machine for a fun ride!

For adults, teens, and children (ages 9 and up).
