"Children will enjoy this book for its account of the way things used to be. Adults will enjoy it, too, especially if they had some of these same adventures as children."  —Provident Book Finder

Levi B. Weber tells about his childhood and youth in Virginia and Pennsylvania. He has expanded his detailed memories by consulting with his relatives and filling out dialogue.

Levi’s family moved to Virginia in the early 1900s. Soon after their new house burned, Levi was born, in 1911. His father, a builder, stirred up Levi’s interest in that trade. When Levi was six, they moved back to Lancaster County. The second volume shows the family taking possession of their Possum Hollow farm and takes Levi through his early school years. Book 3 takes him through grade 7.

Possum Hollow shows what it was like to be a child in the eastern states way back then. Levi’s family enjoys being together even as they struggle to make a living. The children have their chores and games. Church, school, and neighbors fill out the local community.

As a child, Levi deals with experiences, dreams, and fears. He wonders about the meaning of life and faith. Possum Hollow presents stories, conversation, and feelings that dramatically draw readers into his early twentieth-century world. Hop on this time machine for a fun ride!

"Families with homeschoolers will find these books insightful for their understanding about turn-of-the-century rural living."  —Church Libraries
