![]() |
The music featured here is from the book Sing the Journey, Hymnal Supplement 1 published in 2005. Its table of contents is intended as a prayer book that contains rich musical and textual color. It is attentive to the gifts of the worldwide church and to the variety of religious experience within our denomination. Finally, it brings back some well-loved and often-missed hymns, while also offering materials that will lure congregations into new song.
Sing the Journey 2 follows the popular reception to the Sing the Journey CD with 19 more selections and featuring guest soloist Marilyn Houser Hamm and the Journey Musicians of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

If you believe and I believe
The Lord is my light
Loving Spirit
Hamba nathi / Come, walk with us the journey is long
O God in heaven
Longing for light
By the waters of Babylon
Cuando el pobre / When the poor ones
Christ's is the world
God remembers pain
Be still
Alleluia, the Great Storm is over
We sing to you, O God
Long before my journey's start
Just a closer walk with thee
Go, silent friend
If you believe & O God, we pray this day
Now go in peace
Like a mother who has borne us
About the Conductor and Performers
Kenneth Nafziger served on the committee that created Hymnal: A Worship Book and Sing the Journey, Hymnal Supplement 1. He is a professor of music at Eastern Mennonite University and artistic director of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Harrisonburg, Virginia. This is the second CD that he produced and directed from Sing the Journey.
The Journey Musicians are comprised of members of Shekinah, an independent female singing group based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and members of Sons of the Day, a group of seven young men who explore the wide variety of a cappella traditions and are also based in the Shenandoah Valley. The singers are joined by an ensemble of instrumentalists.
