The music featured here is based on the book Sing the Journey Supplement 1 , published in 2005. Sing the Journey, is drawn from materials introduced in the Hymnal Subscription Service and from other new resources not readily available. Sing the Journey is modeled on Hymnal, A Worship Book. Its table of contents uses the same outline. It is intended as a prayer book that contains rich musical and textual color. It is attentive to the gifts of the worldwide church and to the variety of religious experience within our denomination. Finally, it brings back some well-loved and often-missed hymns, while also offering materials that will lure congregations into new song.
Sing the Journey is the first of a two-part Hymnal supplement, divided along the two halves of the Christian calendar. This volume explores the life of the Church and its mission in the world, corresponding to the season between Pentecost and Advent. It assumes that the work of the Holy Spirit continues in the present, and the life of the Church, though changing, is not ever fully known or ever entirely complete. The second volume will focus on the life of Jesus, corresponding to the church year from Advent through Easter.

One is the body
Listen, God is callilng
We will walk with God
You are all we have
O hear my people
My soul is filled with joy
God of the Bible
Beloved, God's chosen
Just as I am
Rain down
Come and be light for our eyes
Somos el cuerpo de Cristo
How can we be silent
Creation is a song
The peace of the earth
Keep me safe, O God
Ubi caritas
All will be well

About the Conductor and Performers

Kenneth Nafziger served on the committee that created Hymnal: A Worship Book and Sing the Journey, Supplement 1. He is a professor of music at Eastern Mennonite University and artistic director of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Journey Musicians are comprised of members of Shekinah, an independent female singing group based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and members of Sons of the Day, a group of seven young men who explore the wide variety of a cappella traditions and are also based in the Shenandoah Valley. The singers are joined by an ensemble of instrumentalists.
