"Now we finally have a rich resource for examining the implications of the Anabaptist tradition for bioethics." -- James F. Childress, Professor and Director, Institute for Practical Ethics and Public Life, University of Virginia, in the Foreword

Viewing New Creations with Anabaptist Eyes
investigates the promise and perils of current genetic biotechnology. The varied authors describe the factual bases of biotechnology in a popular format, bring up the ethical problems that emerge, and provide ethical reasoning to meet those challenges. An Anabaptist perspective is presented as a visionary way to understand and navigate the maze of bioethical dilemmas.

Authors include (in order of appearance): John D. Gearhart, James C. Peterson, Leslie G. Biesecker, Carole L. Cramer, Roman J. Miller, Conrad G. Brunk, LeRoy Walters, Beryl H. Brubaker, Ruth Swartz Cowan, Kabiru Kinyanjui, Carl D. Bowman, Barbra R. Graber, Laura E. Powers, Arlene G. Wiens, Mike E. Baker, Lawrence E. Ressler, Randall L. Longenecker, Emerson D. Nafziger, Timothy S. Jost, Graydon F. Snyder, Joseph J. Kotva Jr., Stanley M. Hauerwas.

"It is so good to have a book that brings typical Anabaptist concerns and questions to the field of bioethics. These authors emphasize communal discernment in facing tough ethical choices. They warns us of the constant temptation to choose profits over God. They remind us to ask not only about the costs and benefits of new technology but also about whose power interests are being served. Finally, they expand the typical focus on right to life to the more Christ-like concern for fullness of life." -- Nancey Murphy, Professor of Christian Philosophy, Fuller Theological Seminary
